A dream come true for sun seekers, Perhentian Besar Island and Perhentian Kecil Island offer amazing views of sparkling white sands and clear blue waters. The excellent visibility makes these island a firm favourite among divers and snorkellers.

The waters around Perhentian Islands offer some of the best dive site in West Malaysia; fusiliers fish, scorpionfish, rabbitfish and christmas tree worms are among the sights which will leave snorkellers spellbound.

Visitors have the choice of staying at the Pulau Perhentian Besar(the larger island) or Pulau Perhentian Kecil (the smaller one).

A 10 minute boat ride is all it takes to get from one island to another. While Pulau Perhentian Kecil has a lively, upbeat atmosphere with plenty of chalets and beach bars, its neighbour has a quieter ambiance with comparatively larger resorts and restaurants.

HOW TO GET THERE

Access to the island is via a 45-minute boat ride from Kuala Besut Jetty on the mainland situated about one hour and half’s drive from Kota Bharu airport.

Kota Bharu Airport currently receives flights from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu provided by Malaysia Airlines, Firefly Airlines and AirAsia

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL

Like other islands along the coast of Peninsula Malaysia, Perhentian Islands are exposed to the northeast monsoon every year between November to March. Best times are between April and August. September and October are the low season.
