Borneo is amazing! and we have no words to describe its charm. It was an unique experience and the guides that accompanied us were fantastic. Kuala Lumpur was chaotic and we are happy that we ended up in Sarawak where we enjoyed the colourful markets , the warm hospitality of the Iban people and the face-to-face with orang utans. We were astonished to see the abundant wildlife on the Kinabatangan River in Sabah. And finally.. the spectacular sunsets at the Rasa Ria Resort. Thank you. 

Hi Luca, we will never forget our trip and thank you very much for making our stay in Sarawak memorable. We hope to come back again someday and explore other places in Sabah. We will send you our photos very soon. Once again thank you, see you!!

Raccontare il nostro viaggio e mostrare le foto non rende assolutamente l'idea di ciò che abbiamo provato nell'essere immersi in paesaggi mistici come al lago Batang ai dove gli Iban ci hanno accolto con meravigliosa semplicità nelle loro long house e abbiamo giocato a rincorrerci con i loro bambini sorridenti, dimenticandoci di tutti i problemi e sentendoci realmente parte di un'unica umanità e non di una società distinta, lontana cuturalmente e geograficamente. I met Luca in 2008 during my trip in Malaysian Borneo for the production of two episodes of my tv programme for an Italian national network LA7. The programme is Missione Natura.
The experience was so productive for the documentary production work,  but also in terms of human relationship, and we have decided to work with Luca again for our documentary production in Philippines and Sulawesi in 2009.

Everything went fine in Pom Pom Island. We loved it! The hexa villa was fantastic and we enjoyed the stay pretty much. Kuala Lumpur was either great. Pick up service and hotel room were fine.
We still think happily to our trip in Borneo. We will come definitly back!!! Thanks so much for the great organisation and your help in Kota Kinabalu. That was very nice! Thanks again!

Most of our Hong Kong students had never visited Borneo before but it certainly didn't take them long to become budding photographers and naturalists with the help of our wonderful guide.  Having a beautiful island to snorkel around complete with its own resident turtles waiting to lay their eggs was also a highlight for many and the two days of wildlife spotting, chasing up river in search of pygmy elephants as the sun set on the Kinabatangan river, was unforgettable.  The students were not only creative in their quest to win "Photo of the Day' but also learned a lot about conservation issues highlighted at the turtle sanctuary, Sepilok orangutan rehabilitation centre and by planting their own tree in Abai as part of thr reforestation programme.  The sarong contest also taught many a thing or two about the complexities of Malaysian fashion! 
The students have now come back to throngs of city life with a new found enthusiasm for the natural world and many talk of returning next year.  This was a perfect trip which ran smoothly due to the help and support of our tour company and their superb selection of guides.  We will definitely be coming back!

I have visited Danum Valley on Borneo with my sister and husband in November 2011. For me personally, Borneo is the most amazing place I have visited in my life. It is hard to find the right words to explain how impressive environment and animals in their natural habitat are. Also, I have to point out the great hospitality of people in Borneo Rainforest Lodge. One big thank to them and also to amazing people from the Naturalis agency. My plan is to come back, definitely :).
 

We met Luca cooperating for a no profit project and we had a wonderful trekking in Maliau Basin with him. The place is really amazing! An endless forest , with all its secrets: endemic species that  you can’t find elsewhere, carnivorous plants, the biggest flower on the planet and microscopic orchids, flying squirrels and hornbills… not mentioning  the waterfalls, the ghost stories and the local tribal traditions. Every effort facing an adventure like that it’s certainly repaid by the feelings that just  “the lost world” can give you.

We had the pleasure and fortune to discover Naturalis and its staff during our honeymoon in Malaysian Borneo. We are fell in love in the South East Asia and we currently continue to exploit Naturalis services to plan our holidays in this part of the world. We stayed in the North of Sulawesi, in Thailand and this year we travelled along the north of Vietnam. We visited the capitol city of Hanoi, we discovered by a wonderful trekking the Sapa Valley and we have the opportunity to meet the local Hmong people. The journey in Vietnam finished with a cruise in the fantastic Halong Bay, UNESCO World Heritage site. The organization, as usual, was perfect. After that we moved to the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia for a further relax period. The location was gorgeous as well as the accomodation. 

Now we have a lot of photos to be reordered, and a thousand memories in the heart, but we are already thinking to the next trip...

Il Vietnam è una nazione che racchiude in se il misticismo; la cultura ; la storia di un continente come l'Asia così distante per usi e costumi, ma così facile da amare. Personalmente posso dire che se è vero che esiste il "mal d'Africa" lo stesso si può dire  per il continente Asiatico, e che ho trascorso dei magnifici giorni di vacanza che mi hanno arricchito nello spirito e nell'anima.

Vietnam and Cambodia trip

Un grandissimo Grazie, Luca, a te ed al tuo staff perchè con il vs aiuto abbiamo assaporato quello che è davvero la vita nella foresta, assistito al normale e lento scorrere della quotidinità dei veri abitanti del Kinabatangan e delle zone limitrofe. La natura incontaminata e gli OrangUtan, le Nasiche, come anche gli uccelli e moltissime altre specie di animali avvistati durante il nostro viaggio sono stati un premio gratificante,  una emozione, una esperienza e che ti lascia dentro davvero qualcosa di speciale. Non passa giorno che non ci vengano in mente quei posti, quei colori , gli odori e la simpatia e disponibilità della gente. Davvero tutto Magnifico !! Speriamo di poterci tornare quanto prima... il prossimo viaggio in oriente è già in cantiere

L'esperienza nel Borneo è stata bellissima!! E la tua agenzia ha organizzato benissimo il nostro tour. Sono stati di una gentilezza impressionante, e soprattutto entusiasti del loro lavoro e del loro Paese! Ci hanno spiegato le cose  orgogliosi di condividere con loro la cultura e la natura che ci circonda. Soprattutto al bako park la guida parlava con il cuore (anche se correva tra quei viottoli). Lo stesso la persona che ci ha accompagnati dagli Iban. È stata con noi sempre nei due giorni e ci ha spiegato davvero tante tante cose. Se abbiamo un ricordo davvero bello di questa esperienza è anche merito della tua agenzia .

Il viaggio è andato divinamente. Organizzazione del tour e dei vari raccordi impeccabile. Soddisfatti del soggiorno nella giungla (ci è spiaciuto stare solo una notte nel Sepilok Nature Resort che era a dir poco favoloso!). E per quel che riguarda Pom Pom.... 10 e lode! Per mare, spiaggia, snorkelling, resort, beach villa, pulizia e cibo!!! Credo che non potevamo desiderare di meglio dal nostro viaggio di nozze!!! L'Asia ci ha davvero rapiti.... non escludiamo, appena riusciremo a permettercelo di nuovo, di tornare ad esplorare nuovi lidi in Malaysia o magari nel borneo indonesiano... Vogliamo ringraziarti Luca per la tua dedizione, la tua profesisonalità e disponibilità. Non è semplice incontrare fornitori o collaboratori così.

Pare che il Borneo, senza il giro nel Kinabatangan, non sia degno d'essere raccontanto. Ora ci si addentra nella forensta pluviale alla attenta ricerca di animali. Questa è la terra degli Orangutan, quei pochi rimasti, i nostri cugini più prossimi, o magari fratelli.

Il Kinabatangan è molto largo. Si fa strada serpeggiando tra la giungla, su cui sembra aver srotolato un nastro semovente di colore marrone. Ho assistito alla sistemazione di famiglie intere di macachi nel rito della ricerca dell'albero per la notte. Ad uno ad uno, con lanci decisi, si trasferivano sull'albero-meta. La femmina, alcuni cuccioli, il maschio ed, ancora, i cuccioli, quelli più timorosi. Quando il sole è dietro l'orizzonte li si può scorgere, ormai immobili, sulle chiome degli alberi-asilo. Due, tre, intrecciati reciprocamente, che sonnecchiano. Accade tra le mangrovie, mentre si scivola sul fiume su una piccola barca con sedute a livello acqua.

Ringrazio Luca Viola per aver saputo offrire l'ottima orgnizzazione di queste splendide giornate, e per il supporto umano e logistico per la prosecuzione del mio viaggio in Indocina.

Ci ha fatto veramente piacere incontrarti e conoscerti, speriamo sia stato così anche per te. A Kota Kinabalu i mercati e la gente ci hanno fatto conoscere cultura e abitudini così diverse dalle nostre. La cittadina di Sandakan la ricorderemo per il suo caos e per l'interessante villaggio sull'acqua (sicuramente da consigliare). L'albergo era bellissimo e una cena all'English Tea House è consigliabile per una serata carina e al fresco.
La zona del Sabah è sicuramente più turistica, ma anche meglio tenuta e organizzata.
Il Sepilok e soprattutto il Kinabatang ci sono piaciuti molto, le guide erano esperte e gentilissime, le sistemazioni veramente belle (per noi super lusso) e la natura intorno indimenticabile. E poi... il degno finale a Lankayan..un vero paradiso sotto tutti i punti di vista (mare, sistemazione, cibo, servizio e anche la possibilità di vedere ogni sera la nascita delle tartarughe) Tutta l'organizzazione da Sandakan fino alla fine è stata perfetta e per questo ti vogliamo veramente ringraziare. :-)

A nome di tutti ti voglio ringraziare di vero cuore per la tua gentilezza, professionalità e per la bella organizzazione del nostro mini tour, con il quale sei riuscito a farci amare questo paese e trascorrere dei giorni indimenticabili. Durante questa settimana a Mataking, dove tra l'altro siamo stati molto bene, continuavamo a ricordare tutto quello che abbiamo visto e sinceramente eravamo molto contenti ed entusiasti.
Chissà magari potremo ritornare per fare un tour della regione di Sarawak, in ogni caso ci teniamo in contatto.
 

Why did I choose Naturalis? I wanted a local travel agent with local knowledge who could arrange an authentic experience for us.  I wanted to make sure that Sabah itself benefited as much as it could from our visit so that the majority of the cost was spent in Borneo and not with an international company based in London. I studied your website and could see that Naturalis emphasis on ecotourism would mean our holiday would have a low impact on the nature of Sabah and would give us a true experience of the country.  Your website gave me this confidence and I could see from your suggested itinerary and subsequent emails that this was the case.

It appeared to me that we had quite a complicated itinerary with several internal flights as well as transfers by car.  Everything went so smoothly, your organisation was flawless.  We were looked after at every stage. All the accommodation and meals were superb and all our guides were so friendly, interesting, knowledgeable and helpful- brilliant. Thank you so much for all your efforts to give us the holiday we had hoped for and memories to last a lifetime.

We traveled for 15 days in Sarawak and Sabah. What we can say..... wonderful experience. Everything has been magically organized by Luca (Naturalis Expedition). For us until from the beginnig was important to do an experience strictly in contact with the nature and people of Borneo. So it was and we are very happy. The organisation was perfect everything went very smoothly -I thank you for that.  to be on Lankayan Island over my birthday was perfect!  It was just awesome, there was a sailboat off the coast of the island, if there would have been a way to beam myself there I would not have returned! I did recommend Hotels on "Trip Advisor", and I will recommend Naturalis to my travel agent.  If there is anything else I can do for you to promote you please let me know. I am very happy with the way everything went.  

This year, our second with Naturalis, saw us take a small group of young wildlife enthusiasts to the heart of Sabah, Borneo to experience as much as we could of this wonderful area within 6 days.  The students had an amazing time and were thoroughly engaged throughout their well paced and exciting itinerary, complete with superb guides to add the finishing touches.  As teachers, we were delighted once again by the professionalism and excellent organisation and planning that went into this trip which allowed us to enjoy the whole process and be confident that our students were being stimulated and enthused to appreciate photography, wildlife, the surrounding environment and to understand the need for sustainable development in order to protect their future.  Thank you and see you next year!

Dear Luca, I do not want to wait any more to thank you for a wonderful trip through Kalimantan. I have only one regret: that it ended too soon! i am still feeling the soothing pace of the ferry, the walks through the forest in near complete silence, the kind people met on the way. If I ever come again to Indonesia - this was my third trip to this country - I shall definitely contact you and arrange for more time in Kalimantan. We had such an amazing time in Borneo. It is such a varied and wonderful country. Our highlights were seeing the Orang Utans and our time on the beautiful Lankayan Island. Such a stunning place to relax and unwind for a few days. We were incredibly impressed with Naturalis. Our trip was very smooth and very well organised. Everything went to plan and was very efficient. Our luggage seemed to be taken care of without us needing to worry. Thank you very much for your hard work in organising this for us. We had a thoroughly good time thanks to you. We have already recommended Naturalis to a friend of ours.

The trip - 14 days in Sabah, services provided by Naturalis people and Borneo island itself was really magnificent. Everything was in time, well prepared, etc. Our guides were helpful, friendly, helped us, cared about us and have knowledge of nature, which for us is very important.

Thank you to Luca and Naturalis for a great Borneo adventure.  Our trip saw us through the Maliau Basin, snorkelling in the Manukan and Manutik islands and summiting Mt. Kinabalu with a via ferrata thrown in just for a bit more fun.  Our trip was the perfect combination of full on jungle wilderness (leeches and all!), relaxing beach time and breathtaking mountain summit views.  The Naturalis team helped us organize every aspect of our trip and we couldn't ask for better service.  Our guide Augustine in the Mailau Basin was excellent with in-depth knowledge and 5-star cooking :)

Having used Naturalis to organise some very successful school trips to Borneo in the past, it was without hesitation that I used them to organise a tailor-made wildlife tour to all of our dream spots in Sabah.  The holiday was AMAZING and we really could n't have asked for any more in terms of organisation, pick ups, accomodation, guides etc apart from that our holiday wasn't long enough and we want to go back as soon as possible.  Tabin was an interesting place and superb for seeing Bornean Gibbons and the Kinabatangan river never fails to impress.  Danum Valley is, however, out of this world and we are going back as soon as we can.  We cannot recommend it strongly enough and will certainly be getting Naturalis to organise our subseqent trips for us as they have been great.

Durante il mio viaggio in Borneo, non ci sono stati contrattempi e tutto e' andato bene. Tra le destinazioni visitate la longhouse di Lemanak nel Sarawak,la splendida isola di Lankayan nel Sabah, passando per Kota Kinabalu e le grotte di Mulu. Quella pero’ che mi ha piu’ impressionato e’ stato il fiume Kinabatangan con la sua incredibile fauna.
